Metabolic Mapping Using X-Nuclei Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic Imaging

报告人照片   Dr. Xin Yu is currently Professor of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). Her main research interest is at the interface of MR physics and cellular/molecular physiology. She has broad experiences in cardiac imaging and spectroscopy, and their applications to the investigation of cardiac and metabolic diseases such as diabetes. She has been the principal investigator and co-investigator of numerous projects funded by National Institute of Health, etc.
  Magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI), especially hetero-nuclear MRSI, allows in vivo assessment of several fundamental metabolic events without the use of ionizing radiation. In particular, phosphorous-31 (31P) MRSI provides a valuable method to evaluate the phosphorylation processes, while oxygen-17 (17O) MRSI enables noninvasive quantification of mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate. In this talk, I will discuss our experiences in developing fast, high resolution 31P and 17O MRSI methods for in vivo assessment of metabolic activities in rodent models of human diseases. The techniques I will discuss include: 1) dynamic 31P-MRSI using SPectroscopic Imaging by spatiospectral CorrElation (SPICE), 2) quantification of metabolic rates by 31P magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF), and 3) high resolution 17O MRSI using ultra-short echo time (UTE) and golden-angle-based radial encoding.
