Precision Medicine, Allergy Diagnosis and Immunotherapy
   Lars K. Poulsen
报告人照片   Dr. Poulsen is presently the head of the Laboratory for Medical Allergology with the responsibility of allergy in vitro diagnostics for the Greater Copenhagen Region. He has served as Professor of Basic Allergology at the University of Copenhagen since 2009. He is co-founder of a master program of Immunology and Inflammation and his research focuses on the immunological mechanisms of allergy. Prof. Poulsen has served as organizer of several international allergy meetings and as Vicepresident of Congresses for the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Precision Medicine has been used to describe a general approach to medicine where the classical phenotypical disease characterization is replaced or supplemented by a molecular-based description that attempts to flesh out the so-called endotype of diseases. The purpose of this shift is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and ultimately the quality of the health care. For allergic diseases an extensive molecular description of the molecules, the allergens, to which allergic patients react, has going on for decades, but so far only few attempts have been made to transfer the technology from the diagnostic to the therapeutic field. The lecture will discuss the barriers for this technology transfer, and the possible future molecular based treatments of allergic diseases.
